Boarding School Dorm Rooms at the Ecole

Simple + Charming Boarding School Dorms

The Ecole d’Humanité campus is located in the heart of the Bernese Alps. Our campus is organized like a charming Swiss Alpine village, made up of over a dozen simple mountain chalets. With views of snow-covered peaks, an expansive ski resort minutes from our campus, and innumerable miles of biking and hiking trails surrounding our school, the Ecole is an inspiring place to live and learn.

Our Boarding School Dorm Rooms

Most students at the Ecole d’Humanité share a room with a roommate. The rooms are simply and purposefully outfitted, featuring stunning views of glacial peaks and verdant woods.

Student rooms come equipped with a twin bed, a workspace, closets, and storage space. We provide linens and bedding, although many students enjoy bringing their own sense of style to their living space with decorative touches from home.

Living together provides opportunities for deep friendships, strong connections, and plenty of social learning. Roommates share their joys and frustrations, and often form life-long friendships.

So much of boarding school life at the Ecole d’Humanité is spent outside our dorm rooms. Students gather together on the Platz to play basketball, ride skateboards, or hang out with friends and enjoy the alpine sun. Students might also challenge each other to a game of pool in our student center, or play a board game, or hold a jam session in our music studio. There’s time to meet on the pistes of the nearby ski resort, or ramble down one of the hiking trails that criss-cross our campus.

Family Houses - Boarding School Rooms with Dorm Parents Onsite

Students live together  in small groups of six to ten in one of our Family Houses. Each house also contains one or two teacher apartments for the Family Heads who lead each group of students. Family Heads are often parents themselves and are available to offer a listening ear and helping hand to students. The family structure of our boarding school dorms creates a cozy, home-away-from-home atmosphere.

Family Heads bring structure to our boarding school dorm life. They perform many of the duties of a supportive caregiver, like ensuring students are ready to take on the school day, and checking in with them as they close their books for the night. Family Heads share meals together with students, bringing wisdom, guidance and maybe a few jokes to the dinner table.

Family Heads help to organize regular Family activities, which encourage a sense of belonging. Family Heads are trained in Theme Centered Interaction and are available to help address the concerns and challenges of teenage life. Of course, Family Heads are also there to celebrate birthdays, to revel in successes, and join our students in the daily joys of life.

We’d love to show you our home.
