AN EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY BASED ON INDIVIDUAL LEARNING NEEDS

Paul Geeheb, 1946, Founder of Ecole d’Humanité

“But the whole educational path of a person in his or her entirety is an individual matter; thus it is a grave injustice to establish the same school program even for just two different children. What is important is to let every child find and progress on his or her own individual educational path”

Paul Geheeb sits on the grass, surrounded by students who are attentively listening and observing as he explains something to them.

At the end of the 13th grade, students complete the second partial examination in German, English, French, Mathematics, their chosen major, and a supplementary subject. See the course catalog.

OUR UNIVERSITY COUNSELING PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO SET YOU OFF FOR SUCCESS

Our robust and holistic university advising program guides students through the university application process, taking them on a journey from dream to university acceptance. We also assist with the minutiae of the university application process: collecting documents; filling out applications; and even helping to sort out small details like organizing transportation to their university.

  • Our son hated school and for sure wanted nothing to do with college. He came home for Christmas after his first term at the Ecole knowing where he wanted to go to University, and what he wanted to study. He was able to follow his dream and has since earned an MBA.”

    Jim, Father of Mats

  • “My son has gained more confidence through his explorations with climbing, mountaineering and ski touring. He feels most alive and present when he is in the mountains, so the Ecole has been the perfect place for him to thrive.”

    Jessie, Mother of Cole

  • “The time at the Ecole has built Neri’s sense of himself, his self confidence and the belief in his choices and his possibilities.”

INDIVIDUAL LEARNING AND SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL SUPPORT

At the Ecole d’Humanité, we recognize that every student has unique strengths, challenges and learning experiences. Because of this, our additional support services are highly personalized, ensuring that each student receives the type and level of assistance that is most beneficial to their individual development. Support is not mandatory, nor is it standardized – instead, it is carefully tailored, based on an in-depth assessment of the student’s needs, goals and potential growth areas.

Students may receive support in one of two areas – Learning Support and Social-Emotional Support – or a combination of both, depending on their specific situation.

Each plan is created within the framework of the Kids Concept, outlining tailored goals and strategies that foster academic success, personal development, and emotional well-being.

Our Student Support Team, which includes learning support specialists, psychologists, social workers, works collaboratively with students, parents, teachers and external professionals when necessary.

A PROGRESSIVE BOARDING SCHOOL IN HASLIBERG, THE HEART OF SWITZERLAND

The Ecole d’Humanité
The Ecole d’Humanité is the only boarding school in Europe offering a truly progressive education in both English and German.

Learning Beyond the Classroom
At the Ecole d’Humanité, your classrooms overlook stunning mountain peaks, and they open wide to the world around you. Discover the principles of aerodynamics on the ski slope, and gather data for your environmental biology class in the local waterways.

Growth and Confidence on Stage
In our co-curricular program you may see yourself grow in confidence on the stage. Perhaps you’ll choose to learn the art of blacksmithing or choreograph a dance performance. You’ll hike and ski, and you’ll have the chance to climb, knit, do pottery and much, much more.

Living and Learning Together
You’ll live together with some of your best friends in one of our chalet dorms, where teachers are always on hand for homework help or a celebratory high-five.
